Conversion Rate is the percentage of users, prospects, or customers who complete a desired action after interacting with an organization, product, service, or marketing initiative. The desired action depends upon the business objective and may include purchasing a product, submitting a contact form, subscribing to a service, registering for an event, requesting a demonstration, or completing another predefined outcome.


Conversion Rate is calculated by dividing the number of successful conversions by the total number of eligible interactions during a specific period. Although the calculation itself is straightforward, meaningful interpretation requires understanding customer intent, traffic quality, user experience, market conditions, and competitive context.


Because customer journeys often involve multiple interactions before conversion occurs, organizations should avoid evaluating Conversion Rate independently from broader customer acquisition and retention metrics.
