Definition
Machine Learning is a branch of Artificial Intelligence that enables computer systems to identify patterns, improve performance, and generate predictions by learning from data rather than following explicitly programmed rules. Instead of specifying every possible decision through traditional programming, Machine Learning algorithms discover relationships within historical information and use those relationships to evaluate new situations.
Machine Learning models are widely applied across forecasting, customer segmentation, recommendation systems, fraud detection, predictive maintenance, natural language processing, computer vision, pricing optimization, and market analysis. Their effectiveness depends on the quality, quantity, and representativeness of the data used during training.
Although Machine Learning can identify highly complex patterns that may not be immediately visible to human analysts, it does not understand business context, organizational objectives, or strategic priorities independently. Human oversight remains essential when interpreting outputs and making final business decisions.
